Bible reading and Prayer Saturday 8th August

Bible Reading and Prayer
for Saturday 8th August 2020

Welcome to our virtual morning Bible Reading & Prayer for today.

Good morning.

Our beautiful church remains closed for the time being, as we all play our part in fighting the invisible enemy of Covid 19.

As we continue to work from home, or on the front line with our brave key workers, I hope our daily prayers and readings from the Bible, bring you hope, some comfort and sustain you during this difficult time.

Our church remains empty, but together, in a virtual world, we give thanks to our Lord and pray for those whose lives have been touched during this time.
Blessings to you and your family.

Bible Reading

Dominic, Priest, Founder of the Order of Preachers 1221
Matthew 17.14-20
Jesus Cures a Boy with a Demon
When they came to the crowd, a man came to him, knelt before him, and said, ‘Lord, have
mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly; he often falls into the fire and
often into the water. And I brought him to your disciples, but they could not cure him.’ Jesus
answered, ‘You faithless and perverse generation, how much longer must I be with you? How
much longer must I put up with you? Bring him here to me.’ And Jesus rebuked the demon, and
it came out of him, and the boy was cured instantly. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately
and said, ‘Why could we not cast it out?’ He said to them, ‘Because of your little faith. For truly I
tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Move from
here to there”, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.’

Prayer for today

Almighty God, whose servant Dominic grew in the knowledge of your truth and formed an order
of preachers to proclaim the faith of Christ: by your grace give to all your people a love for your
word and a longing to share the gospel, so that the whole world may come to know you and
your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen
