Bible Reading and Prayer
for Monday 10th August 2020

Welcome to our virtual morning Bible Reading & Prayer for today.
Bible Reading
Laurence, Deacon at Rome, Martyr, 258
Romans 8.35-end
Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or
famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written,
‘For your sake we are being killed all day long;
we are accounted as sheep to be slaughtered.’
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am
convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to
come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to
separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Prayer for today
Almighty God, who made Laurence a loving servant of your people and a wise steward of the
treasures of your Church: fire us with his example to love as he loved and to walk in the way
that leads to eternal life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with
you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen
